Updating to let you all know that with the demise of D’Argent, my trusty iMac, that Episode 10 will be on hold for a while longer. While L’Argent, the trusty iBook is spiffy, he’s just not powerful enough to handle the demands of editing audio.
However, I am making this update from an Apple Store, where a replacement for D’Argent may be procured this evening, so how long the “while longer” will be will have to remain to be seen.
Happy Holidays to you all!

I share what happened in November, in my usual rambling fashion, and what’s coming up in December (namely Holidailies, which will be playing out on Random Again, my blog) and a few other things — but most importantly, I give you all a sneak peek into my life as a NaNoWriMo winning (for what that’s worth, which is… not that much) fiction writer, with a this-is-not-an-audiobook recording of the first chapter or so of my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel, Suffer the Children.
[If you want to read the printed version of the excerpt and the rest of the story, please visit my writing blog, Fictaster, where there are details about the password process.]
Oh and yes, I do know the difference between a Super ball and the Powerball Lottery. I’m just a goof.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with singing God Bless America or providing other portions of an upcoming podcast. I’ll be seeking similar assistance in the not too distant future for a series that I wish to undertake in the new year. If you’re willing to do straight voice parts (not really acting, just reading from a script) please visit the “participate” page for more information, and let me know.
Thank you to those who sent e-mail and voicemail feedback on the last podcast. Your feedback was a great boon in my NaNoWriMo endeavor.

I share my plan for November, which is a bunch of stuff, all swirling around the centerpiece of the month, which isn’t Thanksgiving and isn’t my trip to Dallas for my friend Erin’s wedding and isn’t the horrific community center play that I’m both acting in and directing, no. It’s NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month. Over the next 30 days I will endeavor to write a 50,000 word novel. I’ve done this successfully every year since 2001. I think I can do it again. Tonight, though, I’m just talking about it.
I’m still looking for people to participate in the podcast. See the God Bless Singers entry for more information.
Feedback has been limited this past week — I’m hoping that it wasn’t because I installed Spam Karma in an effort to becalm the throttling I was getting from evil, evil X-rated comment spammers. If you’ve tried to comment and were told that you were thwarted by spam karma, please use the contact form (link in the sidebar) to send me an e-mail to let me know, so that I can make adjustments. My goal is not to block real people from communicating, just the subhuman slime that are trying to peddle phony pharmaceuticals and naughty nymphettes in my space!

I return from an unintentional month-long break with an update on where I’ve been, the postscript to the tuna story, a request for listener ideas about some travel I’m going to be doing and, in the main segment: some angry words about political commentary from the usual suspects, but about an unusual topic.
I’m still looking for people to participate in the podcast. See the God Bless Singers entry for more information.
Feedback* is what finally got me to get the headset mic back on, non-podcasting inertia was setting in, and in a bad way. Thank you to Laura, Andrea and Jen (of the fledgling But I Dance Around Trees for Christ podcast) for prodding me back into what I hope will become a more regular habit, and thank you to Erich for the very nice voicemail.

Speaking of feedback, after a particularly virulent spam comment attack (215+) I have instituted minor moderation here. If you have never commented before, your comment won’t appear until I approve it; thereafter you will be able to comment normally. However, even if you’re an approved commenter, if your comment contains any words that have almost no use in civil conversation but frequently appear in the advertisement of XXX-rated websites, it will be blackholed and will never appear and I won’t ever even see it to save it from deletion. So be patient if you’re new, and be clean either way, and all will be copasetic. Thanks! (Back)

Every now and again, parenting throws you for a loop. Today was one of those days, all thanks to someone wanting a sandwich.
I’m still looking for people to participate in the podcast. See the blog entry directly preceeding this shownote for more information.
Feedback continues to be beautiful. Thank you to Tim, Andrea, Kevin, Lisa, Ber and everyone who has said something nice about the show via IM or e-mail or comments. Hearing from listeners makes my day!

Right now, I need people who are willing to sing the first four lines of “God Bless America” for use in an upcoming podcast. You do not have to be a great singer, in fact, I need some ordinary, non-singer voices for this. Your voice will not stand out at all, but will be blended with the other recordings that I get as everyone will be turned into a makeshift chorus. I especially need male voices for this project.
If you have a moment to do this, please check the Participate in the Podcast page to find out how to do so. This can be as simple as making a phone call, and singing these lines (just up to “with the light from above”) should take no more than 15-20 seconds.
Thanks!

A short commentary about why I’m so thankful that tonight is the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. This one is a little on the personal side. It’s a reflection of my mood entering the High Holy Days.
L’shana tovah to all to whom it applies (who aren’t listening to this tonight anyway)!
Feedback is a beautiful thing. I’d love to hear from you. Give a glance to the sidebar for the numerous means by which you can share your opinions.

I respond to a particularly noteworthy bit of feedback with some stories from my crazy past about radio (NPR in particular) and the time I worked with phone lines.

iTunes is not playing nicely with me today, now that I am finally “debuting” the podcast by letting people know of its existence. The iTMS was offline for several hours today due to Apple’s new product announcements, but I have every hope that BlueSilver Podcast will be available via my personal #1 Killer App within the next 24 hours.
