Participate in the Podcast

I’m frequently going to make use, when possible, of fans and listeners and friends to add some fun and kick to the podcast by recording pieces to be added to various shows.

The sorts of things that I’ll be “outsourcing” (as it were) will include single lines and short snippets of dialogue to re-enact experiences for my storytelling podcasts, introduction pieces and other pieces as creativity suggests.

You don’t have to have any particular acting history or special voice/accent skills to be a “voice actor” on the podcast, just the ability to read the dialogue I send your way.

And of course, if you do participate in a show in this way, you will be thanked in the episode itself and linked and thanked effusively in the shownotes as well, bringing more traffic to your podcast, blog or whatever it is that you might have going on.

If you’re interested, comment here and I will add you to the BlueSilver Podcast Talent Pool. When I have a recording need that you might fulfill, I will get in touch with you. (And if you can’t do something when I ask, that’s absolutely cool. I know as well as anybody that time is not often on our side for doing fun but utterly inessential little things like this.)

But Dreama, I have no idea how to do this kind of thing!!

Oh, it’s easy. You can record pieces for me in one of three ways:

  1. If you have a computer microphone (built-in can be fine) and recording software that will generate a .wav or .aiff file, you can record your pieces in those formats and send them to me via YouSendIt.com (send to bluesilverpodcast at gmail dot com).
  2. If you don’t have recording software but you do have a computer microphone you can record short pieces at Odeo’s audio messaging system, which will be sent directly to me. Using the system is fairly straightforward but I can help you out if you have questions.
  3. Last but by no means least, you can call the Listener Feedback Line and record your pieces as regular, everyday voicemail. (If you’re using this method from your cell phone, please do so in a place that’s got good reception, 3 bars = okay, 4 bars = much better.) That number is 206-338-BLUE. (BLUE = 2583).

I should have pieces each week that I’d love to get someone else to read, so you can always jump in! (This especially goes for any men who are listening, as I always seem to have more ready access to female voices than male.)

I’ll try a short piece on voice mail from my land line for you to see if you like my reading…..
